Ian Atkinson is a partner of the firm.  He is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, who focuses his practice on criminal defense, commercial litigation, professional and student misconduct proceedings, and intellectual property.

As a criminal defense attorney, Ian regularly advises clients on complex white-collar matters, including health-care fraud, tax, money laundering, wire and mail fraud allegations, and other investigations.  Ian also routinely defends clients accused of gang-related activity, racketeering, homicide, and drug distribution.

Ian has extensive experience advocating for students accused of misconduct, including in Title IX proceedings and federal litigation seeking to overturn Title IX outcomes.  He also defends doctors, lawyers, and other professionals in professional liability and disciplinary proceedings.

In his civil practice, Ian defends individuals and businesses in a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract disputes, succession matters, business torts, and other litigation before state and federal courts.  In addition, Ian advises artists and businesses on intellectual property concerns, such as trademark and copyright law, licensing, and other matters.

Ian attended college at Tulane University and law school at the University of Virginia.  After graduating from UVA, Ian clerked for the Honorable Sarah S. Vance, in the Eastern District of Louisiana, and the Honorable Edith Brown Clement, on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
